AMBASSADOR DOG TRAINING
To promote a "Team" effort with Dog and Handler to create an enjoyment in the therapy environment. Discussion of general liability and handling difficult visitation situations. We will focus on building the Bond between your dog and yourself through training both your dog and you.
* Dog welcoming physical handling Ears, Paws, Tail and Grooming
* Sit-stay or Down stay for 30 seconds
* Come when called away from human
* Walk on Leash and Halt
* Walk past distractions of food (Leave It)
* Walk past medical equipment like wheelchair being pushed
* Calm reaction walking past another Dog
* Greet a stranger who acts afraid of dogs
* Sit near angry yelling
* Visit a person in a walker who leans over with an outstretched hand and moans
* Visit a person in a wheelchair who is non-verbal and has limited range of motions in the hands
* Be approached by a crowd of people for petting
* Visit a person who has an excited voice and give the dog a hug
* Visit a person who offers a treat
* All Dogs must have Rabies and DHPP vaccinations. Vaccinations must be available.
* Dogs should have lived with handler for 6 months before final evaluation.
* Dogs must have passed Canine Good Citizen test.
* Dogs must be behaviorally healthy and not aggressive towards other dogs.
Tuition: $90.00 per hour or $50 half hour
Therapy Dog Handler Manual and Official Therapy Dog Evaluation class size: private instruction. Once a week for 7 weeks - 1st week orientation - last week Therapy Dog evaluation
