AMBASSADOR DOG TRAINING
Class Goals:
Ambassador Dog Program was created for Therapy Dog teams to teach children about the care of dogs by demonstrating during a seminar.
Seminar Teaching Achievements will include:
* Difference between a service dog and a therapy dog
* Proper way to ask and pet a dog
* What are dangers to dogs
* Reading dogs body language
* Do dogs have feelings
* Proper way to give dogs treats
* Demonstration of dog tricks
* Acting out being approached by an angry dog
Prerequisite:
* At least 1 year old at start of class.
* Certified Therapy Dog
* Tons of treats and 4-6 foot non-retractable leash.
Tuition: $90.00 per hour or $55 an half hour
Class size: private instruction
Once a week for 5 weeks - 1st week orientation - last week team demonstrates
Do dogs have feelings?
Children enact dog feelings of: happy, shy, scared, angry, loving.
How to give a treat properly?
Teaching children to place their hand flat like a pancake, place treat in middle of palm and bring down under the dogs chin.
Ambassador Dog Program teaching children proper way to pet a dog on the ear, shoulder or back never pat on top of head.
Ambassador Dog Program when an angry dog is around: stand like a tree and look at your roots (your feet) and never stare at an angry dog, staring threatens a dog
Ambassador Dog Program teaching children proper way to pet a dog on the ear, shoulder or back never pat on top of head.
Ambassador Dog Program teaching children to ask permission to ask to pet your dog.
